According to the experimental result conducted by DisplaySearch, the real life-span of Sony XEL-1 is not as good as it claimed. DisplaySearch tested a pair of XEL-1 monitors for over 1000 hours, and found that the level of blur illumination, red illumination and green illumination has deceased by 12%, 7% adn 8& respectively. After repeated testing, they found that the brightness of XEL-1 will decrease by half after using it for 17,000 hours (Sony claims that it is 30,000 hours). At least, this shows us that there is still a long way to go in order to make this kind of advanced monitor to be perfect.
